What you are told or what you watch on the training video is very different from what you experience. There needs to be better training to customers. Tell them what to expect with any case scenario. Such as insufficient blow with rolling retest… (eg. the device will alarm view message missed blow…continue to alarm then you will see a timer press the button and proceed with sample…this is not a violation) I feel like better education/training will make for a better customer experience. As far as customer support they will reach out but I don’t think they know more than what the customers are told at the shop. For instance I was told I was going to a mechanic that specialized on installation on a Tesla, in fact he never had. He had to wait about 5 hours for someone from Intoxalock to call to assist them on installation. Then he read me an email from them as to what not to do. Which most of it is inaccurate.or does not make sense. Can’t use my phone app to lock and unlock the doors…what…why? Cause it wakes the car up…so what about opening my doors…yup that’s ok. What? How does that make sense. Ask and no one really knows other than just cause that’s what the company recommends to avoid violations. I am just saying I am finding out that things I am told are not actually true or how it goes. So if you like to self teach than this is for you. Trial and error. A sure way for the company to make some extra money.
One more thing I will say based on other reviews Intoxalock is one of the better ones to use on a Tesla.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements.
