What you are told or what you watch on the training video is very different from what you experience. There needs to be better training to customers. Tell them what to expect with any case scenario. Such as insufficient blow with rolling retest… (eg. the device will alarm view message missed blow…continue to alarm then you will see a timer press the button and proceed with sample…this is not a violation) I feel like better education/training will make for a better customer experience. As far as customer support they will reach out but I don’t think they know more than what the customers are told at the shop. For instance I was told I was going to a mechanic that specialized on installation on a Tesla, in fact he never had. He had to wait about 5 hours for someone from Intoxalock to call to assist them on installation. Then he read me an email from them as to what not to do. Which most of it is inaccurate.or does not make sense. Can’t use my phone app to lock and unlock the doors…what…why? Cause it wakes the car up…so what about opening my doors…yup that’s ok. What? How does that make sense. Ask and no one really knows other than just cause that’s what the company recommends to avoid violations. I am just saying I am finding out that things I am told are not actually true or how it goes. So if you like to self teach than this is for you. Trial and error. A sure way for the company to make some extra money. One more thing I will say based on other reviews Intoxalock is one of the better ones to use on a Tesla.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle.
