The AutoZone Henrietta team was knowledgeable and helpful when my failing battery needed replacement. They quickly identified the type of battery I needed, confirmed it was in stock and installed it for me in minutes, despite some complicated housings and connections that had to be undone and put back in my place in my crowded engine compartment. The young woman who did the work wouldn't accept a cash tip, but the manager suggested leaving a Google review instead so here it is!

Needed battery replaced on 1/3/26 am. Not sure of names of people, but they were helpful, replaced battery and offered some other advice. I was very happy with the service.

On Sunday morning at 9 a.m. (store open) December 28 when it was 22 degrees out, Parts Sales Manager Abu M. saved my 589-mile holiday voyage home from Vermont to Pittsburgh. Eleven days prior, I had a new Duralast Gold (600 CCA) battery installed at my local Pittsburgh AutoZone to replace my 6-year-old battery and to prepare for the frigid temperatures of Vermont. On my way home I stopped to get gas and a sandwich at a Fastrac in Rochester, NY and returned to a car with complete power loss. Nothing on the dash, nothing anywhere.
To say I was dismayed at night in the cold so far from home would be an understatement. Given that it was a brand-new battery that started effortlessly at 4°F in Vermont, I thought it was a connection issue. I had no wrenches with me, so I popped the hood and tried to manipulate the battery terminals. They were not loose and did not budge, but somehow my efforts restored power and I was able to start the car and drive to a hotel where I stayed the night. The total power loss happened again in the hotel parking lot. I repeated the same trick to get a connection with no tools and the next morning drove tensely to the closest AutoZone on E Henrietta Rd at opening.
That is where Abu M. stepped out into the cold and tested the battery (100% charged) and concluded rather quickly that there was a little too much dielectric grease on the terminals and the anti-corrosion felt washers were too thick and preventing the terminal from mating with the battery post. He used a paper towel to remove excess dielectric grease and took off the thick felt washer as well as a lead shim used to compensate for the imperfect fit at installation (caused by the thick felt washer).
Result: total, uninterrupted power to the dash and a safe 284-mile trip from Rochester to my home in Pittsburgh with nothing to worry about but the excessive calories consumed during the holidays.
Abu M. is not just company trained or corporate trained or store trained; he is life trained and experienced with car batteries to the point where he can improve the safety and accuracy of battery installation at all AutoZone stores. Execs at O’Reilly Auto Parts should be nervous…
