I had a flat tire and took the flat into Monro auto Service Center in Kingston. By nature flats are unscheduled so this was a drop in visit. The staff took me in and worked me into their schedule. The repair was done in a timely manner, replacing the tire back on the road and getting me back on my way. I appreciated the professional service.

The first time I took my car here I had a coolant leak and my engine was smoking! Within 10 minutes they fixed it and declared “a simple fix no charge.” I was shocked and grateful. So when I had another issue I brought my car there and they fixed it up on the spot while I waited- they carefully showed me what the problems were and how they would fix them. I totally trust these guys and they are very professional and super nice, I am so happy to have found them!

The biggest mistake I made this year was visiting this place and sending the tires there to be replaced. I went to Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers after purchasing tires costing over $1,200 and having them shipped directly from Tire Rack to this location. I came in specifically for tire installation and TPMS sensor replacement. At the end of the service, I was told that a wheel alignment had been performed without my request or approval, yet the TPMS sensors were not replaced. The TPMS warning was clearly displayed on the dashboard every single time the vehicle was started. This warning is impossible to miss. Even assuming a customer has no technical knowledge, no experience, and notices nothing on the dashboard, a professional shop working on new tires should still recognize and communicate that the TPMS system is not functioning. This is not a hidden issue. It is visible, documented, and well known in the industry. The ethical question here is simple: When a customer installs expensive new tires, is there no professional responsibility to inform them that the TPMS sensors are failing and should ideally be replaced at the same time? Especially when every technician knows that replacing sensors during tire installation is significantly cheaper than doing it later, since the wheels must be fully removed again. Failing to mention this upfront results in higher future costs for the customer, unnecessary repeated labor, and additional wear to the tires caused by multiple removals. Any experienced shop is fully aware of this. Weeks later, when the warning was still present, I contacted the shop multiple times and was told that no invoice could be found under my name. It turned out my customer information had been entered incorrectly by the shop, making follow-up nearly impossible. After almost a month, I was asked to return so the issue could be addressed. I drove about 30 minutes based on that assurance, only to be told that Monro was not responsible because Tire Rack had not supplied the sensors. This information was never communicated at the time of service. Had it been, I would have ordered the sensors immediately and avoided this entire situation. Instead, I was later quoted $724 to replace four TPMS sensors — a cost that would have been far lower if handled properly during the original tire installation. This experience reflects a failure to inform, poor record keeping, unnecessary inconvenience, and a situation that appears designed to shift cost and responsibility onto the customer rather than act in their best interest. I am sharing this so others can understand exactly what to expect and make informed decisions.
