  This place needs to put its act together. I was so happy Sixt rental opened up next block. This meant I didn’t have to walk 20 mins to go to Avis at the waterfront anymore. I needed the car for a day to go to a wedding in upstate. When I arrived the customer agent was trying to upgrade me for a discounted price. When I agreed, mentioned the car was damaged. The agent next to me was trying to do the same with the next customer. As I was getting delayed, I asked for the economy car I booked. However, was told that multiple cars that were supposed to be returned by then didn’t arrive. Later, they tried to upgrade me to another car for a price. When I refused to pay extra they offered me the car for the same price. Should have done it the first time. This whole process delayed my trip. I think they overbooked and had an inventory issue but was making excuses. The staff were friendly and polite and the extra star is for that; but they should be more transparent. I might give them one more chance as it’s convenient but my Avis location has always been kind to me and upgraded every time at no cost if they could. Will go back to them if Sixt doesn’t improve soon.

  DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. They are claiming for damage without any proof. If you search the internet you will find many customers making similar claims. This appears to be standard operating procedure for this company.

  Shocked to find such warm hospitality and thoughtful service at a car rental place in New York! Great price and amazing people (shoutout to Blaize and team). We told them we were headed off on a roadtrip and got upgraded to a 4WD instead of the compact that we booked. This was a great start to our roadtrip and made the ride so much more comfortable, which we really appreciated. The pickup and a drop off process was also quick and easy. No wait, just ID check, explanation of the booking/insurance whatnot, sign and off you go. I also particularly liked the reminder email that I got the day before return. It had our return time and location details along with a “modify return” link, which made extending or adjusting drop off time super easy. We were a hot mess when we returned the car and after the initial checks, they gave us so much time and space to unpack the car and get our things together. Traveling is already a stressful experience as it is and I’m so happy we picked Sixt for this part of our journey because they made everything so simple, easy and fast. Highly recommend!
