  Never again. Having rented from U-Haul countless times in the past, I opted for Penske because there were no options for my desired size/destination. The online check-out process was easy enough, and we were all set to haul our belongings from NYC > Connecticut. The pick-up was scheduled for noon on Saturday. Unfortunately, we were running behind, and at about 5 minutes to noon, someone from the location called & asked if I was still coming. I said that I was running behind, tracking around 1:00pm. They said no problem, see you then. I arrived to the location at 1:07pm to find that the office was deadbolt shut, with no one responding to the doorbell or answering my calls. I reached out to Penske asking them what was happening, to which they replied “oh it looks like this location closed at 1:00pm”. I said that someone from the store called me and said “no problem” and never mentioned that they were closing at 1:00pm (had they told me, I could’ve easily gotten a friend who lives nearby to pick up the keys). The customer service rep said he’ll try reaching out to the location (despite my having already done so) and unsurprisingly he said they couldn’t get anyone on the phone. Clearly frustrated at this point, I asked what our options were. They said they didn’t have any trucks for us until Sunday, and that there’s “nothing they can do”. I said that it’s really not right — we had an interstate move scheduled, and it wasn’t as easy as just pushing it back a day. The customer service rep had the audacity to say “well if my shift ends at 1:00pm on a Saturday, I’d also want to leave right on the dot”. Seriously?! I completely understand that I was late, but this had already been discussed with the location, to which they said was totally fine. Not even a courtesy call or anything?! What a joke. The silver lining is that after a quick google search, I found “C.C. Rental” — a similar truck rental company located less than a half mile away. The rep on the phone had me in a comparable truck in under 15 minutes, and here’s the kicker…it was HALF the cost! Not to mention, you get 100 miles included for free. Definitely never trying Penske again, and after my experience with C.C. (from a $ standpoint) I might be passing on U-Haul going forward as well…

  The big heavy set women at the front desk was completely rude and needs to be fired immediately. Her customer is beyond rude. I called in to ask if I can come pick up my sweater I left in the van and she said I’m leaving in 5mins so at 4:54pm I’m out and there’s nothing I can do and hangs up the phone. I then call back and she said I can come get my sweater but its going to be closed and hangs up on me again.Absolutely horrible customer service and me or the production company I work with will never rent as long as she still works there. And I will be making a complaint to corporate for sure

  Everything was good but they rob you for diesel I filled up till neck and return the truck after times and they charged me 6.2 gallons more when I filled up the fuel 2 min away from the location and they charge me $62 for the diesel I already filled

  This is now my go to place when I rent (which can be often!). There are other rental companies around the same price closer to me...BUT without a doubt this is the least stressful, EASIEST, quickest place with the best Customer Service. JANAE (I think she is the Manager?) ROCKS! She was extremely helpful & Jesse who works there is super laid back & a pleasure, too. Even Jorge(?) who checked out the van with me was great! I specifically called Allen who I was told was the Boss to let him know how great they were. The ONLY issue I have is that it is far from the subway, & I don't think there is a bus from there (at least that I have seen), so if I drop off late, I need to take an Uber home.
