Really would not recommend going here. No clarity on how much I was paying for parts vs labor, no proper receipt for the work done, very poor communication throughout

The mechanics and managers have been a pleasure to deal with and they often went above and beyond.
I first made their acquaintance when my car needed an adjustment that was simple but required tools I didn't have: they did it without an appointment and didn't charge me. Since then I've invariably found them accommodating about time and reasonable about charges.
After my recent brake repairs, I found that my car rattled and vibrated less than it had, and I believe they must have done some tightening and adjusting in addition to the billed job.

I called on a Friday morning to schedule a NYS Inspection, and was told over the phone I could drop it off anytime. When I came to drop it off, Monro had no clue who I was or what I was talking about, but was able to take my car in. Saturday afternoon I called for an update and couldn’t get through, just assumed they were busy. Sunday morning I called again around noon, and was told they had no record of my car but could come pick it up “sometime soon”. I got a callback immediately that my car was actually done on Saturday, but no one called. Terrible service, I will NEVER be taking my car here again.

Rarely leave reviews of anything but I would feel guilty if I didn’t document my experience with Monroe in Ithaca. I can only speak to my situation but from the general feeling of how this went down I imagine it is not limited to a single occurrence.
I made an online appointment for 11pm to swap my existing summer tires for snow tires that I already owned. This swap was on a brand new vehicle with <2000 miles on it. When I made the appointment I checked the box that stated I would be waiting for the job to complete at their shop, as a job like this typically would take an hour tops. Once I handed over the keys I was informed that it would be 2-3 hours minimum until they would be done. Despite being on time for an 11pm appointment, and them being aware that I was planning to wait. I understand that jobs can get backed up and this can lead to increased wait times but to withhold that information until they have the keys in hand and agreement for services didn’t feel great.
Not 2-3 but almost 4 hours later they completed the job and I was on my way. Only to realize after I got home that they threw out my perfectly good summer tires with <2000 miles on them when I stated I wanted to keep them. I immediately returned and had to look through their tire pile in the back of the shop to find them.
I basically ended burning most of day to get a simple job done that most other places could have done in less time, with more care.
It’s partly on me that I went to the cheapest place I could find, but the standard of service was below even the price point. It’s worth the extra money to get actual service and reliability in the area. Don’t go here if you can avoid it.

Absolutely would not recommend Monro Auto in Ithaca! I first tried to book an appointment over the phone, but instead of talking with someone at the shop I had to talk to someone outsourced sitting in another country. This person then went on to quote me an outrageous price just to look at my van (I had a brake fluid leak). Initially I didn't even go to the shop; I only decided to go AFTER I couldn't get in anywhere else. It was a freezing cold day and I simply didn't have time to do it myself.
I then get to the shop, and was quoted by a tech (after it had been looked at) that it was a simple rubber brake line and it would cost around $200 at most, and would be done within an hour. AWESOME right?! Oh no. I got called into the shop later by another tech who told me that he saw a leak in my back caliper (which I replaced a few months ago) and he was going to replace that and change the brakes (replaced a few months ago, they barely had wear on them). It wasn't until I said "Absolutely Not" to getting those replaced that my estimate jumped to $412, and they couldn't tell me when it would be done! But at this point I was so frustrated that I just had them do it.
THE THING THAT UPSETS ME MOST IS THAT THESE GUYS ARE DOING THIS TO PEOPLE THAT ABSOLUTELY DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER! I'm talking the single mom who really doesn't have money to spare because she's trying to scrape up money to give her children a Christmas! Or the disabled guy who can't physically make the repairs or look at the vehicle on his own.
I'm a disabled veteran, which is hard enough without places like this taking advantage of me. I will ABSOLUTELY never go to a Monro again. Disgusting.
