*edit* They did not resolve this! I have submitted this to small claims, and reported it to the police.
Dishonest with customers, will never go back. I just had the weirdest experience there and I dont even know where to start.
The associate showed me the dipstick and said "your oil looks clear and clean, you can go for another 2 k miles on this oil." My oil meter was at 7% oil life, theres no way I'm resetting the meter and driving for another 2 k miles before an oil change, so I said please just do a complete oil change. This is not safe conduct he's recommending. He started explaining something about oil, some jargon from his line of work, I couldnt follow because of all the yelling back and forth from the rest of the team and cars. I said lets just do the full change.
They charged me for the change, and started the process.
They started draining the car, which usually lasts a little while, maybe 15-20 mins, this time around it lasted less than 10. Then the weird part happened. The first guy left and another associate came by, looked at the monitor, read that a full tank was needed, called for the oil and got the pump into the tank. Before he could start he got a yell from the first guy, who came running over, stopped him from filling the tank and took the handle from him. There was a really weird exchange between them, hushed voices, some whispering I couldnt quite catch, and then the first guy did the tank refill instead. He must have been filling it for maybe 3 or 4 seconds tops before he took out the pump. Ive been here once before and that was not how long it took to fill my tank.
I do not think they replaced my oil today. That was oil that was changed back in June, it is now March, the meter said 7%. I think they topped off the tank, charged me full price and told me to drive off. Why did they do this? Because I'm a woman? Because I may not know better? Im a paying customer that wanted a complete change. Why the shifty behavior, the whispering, the hushed tones? How is a customer supposed to feel secure in their own car with this kind of behavior happening under their hood? How the hell was I supposed to receive that? Why stop the guy ready to fill the tank? What other reason could there be other than the fact that he wasnt in on the scam.
So off I drive and I'm not feeling safe in this car anymore, so I called dunntire, my usual place, and I told them what happened. I go there right away, they drain it, at which point they tell me "your oil looked darkish for what should have been brand new oil". The filter may not have been new either, it looked a little scuffed up. The old oil to begin with looked yellow anyways. There was way too much contention on the matter so I had dunntire replace all the oil AGAIN. I cannot believe the events at today. If the associate filling up the tank looks at the monitor and sees how much to fill from empty, why should he be interrupted?! Why should he be stopped, whispered to, have the pump taken from him and be completed by another. Because they didnt empty out the tank! You cant fill from empty if the tank is still half full! He took the pump because only he knew the difference needed after the half drain they did. After a couple seconds of filling there was a small spill, why should it have overflown at all?! The monitor has specific instructions on it. They cleaned up the spill, closed the hood and I left.
On top of all of that, the flirting going on was entirely unwelcome and uncomfortable, from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. It made me nauseatingly uncomfortable. Theyre not honest and straightforward with their customers, they seem to have 0 respect for women.
I want my money back for the "oil change". This site needs to be investigated. They dismissed and antagonized me over the phone, refusing to even acknowledge the perspective of the customer. That regional manager needs to be fired. What a bad look for the company. I'm going to tell everyone what happened here. Everyone in this town will know what Valvoline does.
