- GWGreg WatkinsSep 15, 20195.0Saturday 9/14/19 at approximately 6:30pm I drove to their competitors A-Zone, my 1st mistake, looking for a simple snap ring to secure bearings in a wheel hub...after 10 minutes the rep at A-zone told me they didn’t have one for that vehicle...I drove straight to Advance Auto Parts on Pulteney Street it was 6:55pm and they were in the process of closing...I showed the very kind Representative the broken snap ring...he asked what vehicle...I told him a 2018 Polaris UTV...he immediately went to the parts area knowing he had to find something similar...he had a short conversation with the other Representative...that rep started researching the part on the web as the original rep searched the parts area diligently...a short time later he came out of the parts area with two different options as the 2nd rep advised me of the updated options for my particular vehicle...NOW THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE...thank you both...the snap rings were a perfect match!!!

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
