Brian was so helpful! Extremely personal, grounded, and honest. I didn’t feel like he was trying to squeeze any extra money out of me or take advantage of an already annoying situation with my car. He hopped on the phone with me before hand and we talked pricing, options, and he was very generous and made it possible. Thanks Brian!!

Short version: Denied service for oil change for because car had “no oil” as stated by mechanic. Went to change oil at another location and car had correct amount oil in it. Had I listened to technicians at this location, I could have driven a block down, filled with 5 quarts and seriously damaged my car.
On April 28 I visited Mavis discount tire in Brooklyn for a routine oil change. I had previously had an oil change done at this location without issue. On this visit however, I was told that my car did not have any oil as evidenced by the dipstick and that they would be unable to service the vehicle for the oil change. Immediately concerned, I disputed the fact that the car did not have any oil, showed how the dipstick displayed oil to the mechanic or technician, to which he was dismissive of the fact that there was oil on it, and it was different from dipsticks that he was showing me as evidence of what a dipstick should look like. I drove around the block, checked the oil again in the lot, and showed the oil on the dipstick to the tech.
I went to have my oil change at a different shop and saw a decent amount of oil leave my vehicle, 1-2 minutes of solid oil drain on a warm engine (typical for my vehicle). I went back to the shop to show them this video tell them that telling people that their car has no oil can lead to individuals accidentally overfilling their engine with oil and to be more careful with how they phrase these issues to prevent people from ruining their cars —not only did they not want to see the video of my car having the previous oil changed to show that there wasn’t that oil in the vehicle, they were dismissive of the fact that I said that telling people they have no oil in their cars could actually lead to people adding needless oil to their car and inviting new mechanical issues. I would say that I did appreciate the service that I received here in my prior visit but after this visit, I am more cautious and would like to tell anyone else that would like to have their oil changed here or have any other service done here to monitor any service and finding another reputable shop in the area if any issues are raised during the visit.
Unfortunately I feel like I have to share this due to the lack of acknowledgement/dismissiveness of the issue when speaking to the workers after the fact about providing incorrect information if/when refusing service, or even when work is done shoddily/incorrectly. I hate posting negative reviews when things can be managed person to person, and I’m sure most of the time the staff likely does do great work. Today just wasn’t the day.

This was my 1st time at a Mavis. I had a pleasant and positive experience at this location. The manager Brian was extremely friendly and welcoming. The person that worked on my car explained what I needed in addition to my oil change but was not annoyingly pushy. I would definitely recommend this location and I will come back the next time im in Brooklyn.

If you value ur car DO NOT GO / COME HERE. Went for a wheel alignment After reading other ppl reviews I thought this was a good place to take my subaru for an alignment. Took a chance on Saturday to get an alignment and they frig up the car after paying $130 could have cause the car not to get proper brakes. They used some sorta heat on the car and it caused the rubber boot on the axle to get a tear and all the grease was coming out of the boot unaware to us. First off when they finish the alignment and bring the vehicle back it was only pulling on one side the steering wheel was pulling to the right. Told them to do it over cuz this not right alignment they did it over with a 3 months warrantee. 2hrs or so after before we got on the highway something said check under the car when we looked all the grease was leaking from the rubber boot we took pictures to show and we went back to Mavis but they were closed. Went to another Mavis location the next day that was closer to where we were at the time and this Mavis on Sunday said they can see they use some sorta heat could be a torch and did damage the rubber boot and they would try to help. The manager called the Utica location and spoke to the same gentleman that was there on Satuday he told us to bring the vehicle back on Monday. Spoke with cooperate about the problem they said they can replace the axle but we will have to pay for the labor. We didnt agree to that cuz why should We have to pay again for a damage that was created by one of ur staff ? Furthermore it was going to be an after market axle and not an original piece we took the vehicle back to Mavis on Utica today and the same guy told us they didnt use no heat they all trying to protect one another nobody wants to throw anybody under the bus and said they have camera footage to show they didnt use heat we asked to see camera footage they refused to show me. The same gentleman said he was in Mavis after 6 pm washing his car when he lied the lot was empty when we went back the same day to report the problem. We told him to check the camera he will see that we did come back and there was no one around so how could he claim he was still there and that he was washing down a car. This just made the situation worst cuz anybody will get frustrated and upset if this had happen to them. They didnt rectify the problem we had to go somewhere else and pay again for something Mavis is Responsible for wonder who else had bad experience here and just never posted anything to make others aware just remember you have to weigh the good with the bad cuz we could have been going somewhere with the family which we had planned on going to church and something devastating could have happened where the vehicle not getting proper brakes when you trying to breaks up with the baby in the back cuz we know they saw the car seat in the back of the car they know we got kids. We attached photos so you know this ain't no lie this happened hope this doesn't happen to anyone else
