- ABAhmad BurnsDec 21, 20253.0Made an appointment to have two new tires mounted and balanced plus tires rotated. I brought the tires which were bought from tire rack. They took my car in right away and we're finished in about an hour. The next day I took a 300 mile round trip and the car had an annoying vibration on the highway. I was also getting a slight 'clunk' when pulling off from a stop. On my way home from this trip, I thought to myself, maybe they failed to torque my lug nuts in star configuration which can lead to vibration, rotor warpage etc. Soon as I reached home, I jacked the car up, loosened all lug nuts and tightened them to spec using the star pattern. Hit the highway for a test drive and the car was smooth as glass! The clunk I was getting when moving from a stop was also gone! This is highly disappointing because this is very basic knowledge for anyone who's into car repair. Most likely who ever worked on my car knows how important this is, but didn't care. This is the reason I do routine maintenance myself and 95% of all repairs. Time to figure out how to mount and balance tires now!
