  Have you ever needed to rent a pickup truck with towing capability to haul a trailer or something similar? It's surprisingly difficult to find a company willing to provide one. Avis won't do it. Budget won't do it. Home Depot? Lowe's? No and no. Hertz? Good luck with them. Their phone system wouldn't connect me to a live person. It just told me to use their website -- and then the website didn't work. U-Haul charges over a dollar per mile -- fine if you're staying local, not so fine if you're making a 10-hour round trip from Long Island to upstate NY. Herc wanted over $300 for one day. And many other companies will only deal with corporate accounts and will only rent trucks for weeks or months at a time. I found Enterprise Truck Rental in Bohemia through an online search. They offer a wide selection of pickups for personal use, including 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, and 1-ton varieties. Their rates are more affordable than the competition. And when they didn't have a truck available on the day I needed, they worked with nearby Enterprise locations to get one sent to Bohemia. The truck was maybe the nicest vehicle I've ever driven - a 2025 Ford F-150 that provided comfortable seating, an unbelievably quiet ride, and state-of-the-art technology. The checkout process was fast and the representative answered all my questions about insurance, tolls, etc. He even provided an adapter in case my hitch bar wasn't the right size. Because it was a small truck, they also waived the mileage fee, which saved me over a hundred dollars. The entire rental ended up costing just $95. My wife's pickup should be out of the repair shop soon, so I'm hoping not to need any more rentals. But if I do, I know where to go. Edit (7/22/25): As it turns out, I did need another rental this past weekend. I would have liked to get the same Ford as last time, but since someone had already rented it, Enterprise gave me a larger F-250 for the same price. Thanks again!

  Like any car/truck rental the reservation is a very important part of the process. You make a reservation expecting the vehicle you need is available. I made a reservation for a Cargo Van 2 weeks prior for a small move. I went there a few days prior to 1. Confirm the reservation 2. Inquire if the van had commercial plates (so I would knew what routes to take, avoiding parkways etc.) and 3 to see if possible to leave my car there. Didn’t quite get past my first inquiry since they had my reservation but didn’t and won’t have any vans when I needed it. If they just didn’t have any available that would be fine; but if they’re that scarce why take the reservation! Now I know why they had the cheapest rates, easy to be the cheapest if you don’t have the product to sell! If you absolutely need to rent a truck avoid this place because good chance they won’t have anything available!
