  I initially felt the manager of the local Mr Tire, Front St, Binghamton, Kevin, would be acting in my best interests and advising me upfront of my needs. I was in the waiting area on a phone call with my Dr when he interrupted to say my oil & filter were clean, didn’t need replacing. That is all I recall. It would’ve been the polite thing to do to have waited until I was off the phone call. Ultimately, when I checked out he said my tires were rotated (at no charge, as they should have been as part of included service when you purchase tires there), and my battery had been serviced. I expected minimal cost, didn’t bother to review the invoice (yes, my bad). Next day I see my MC was billed appropriately $300, which included $250 for a new battery I knew nothing about. I had not been experiencing Any battery issues whatsoever and the battery wasn’t even 3 years old. I would never have agreed to the purchase without a considerably detailed discussion…type of batteries available, cost, expected life span, etc. Kevin informed me they only carry 2 batteries, the other being $500. If I had been informed of that I would immediately have gone to where I purchased my current battery to determine my true needs before making any decision. I basically went in because a tire was losing air, per an indicator on my dashboard. Nothing else…no check engine light nor anything else that would lead me to question the health of my battery. I had recently received numerous flyers with deals pertaining to oil change, etc. and warning me of possible damages if my car wasn’t seen soon. I called the # indicated to make an appointment thinking I was going to reach my local store. That # now goes to a call center that has no record of your car, let alone its maintenance. I feel strongly that this is, at best, deceitful marketing. Based upon a simple question the agent couldn’t answer I was then transferred to the store and made an appointment for general miscellaneous work, definitely not for a battery I had no indication was of any concern (in which case I would have gone to where I had purchased it). This call center is a prime example of why doing business over the phone today is often a long, tedious, frustrating experience. Many corporations (in this case Munro who owns Mr Tire), opt to provide their customers this below par service (and expect their underpaid agents to upsell)…for the benefit of their bottom line. When I called Kevin to discuss the issue of the battery I had no intention of purchasing all trace of proper customer service went down the drain. Despite my asking him numerous times not to, he continued to talk over me the entire conversation. Maybe they think they can get away with it when the customer is an elderly woman who is depending upon them to help her with appropriate service, honestly. Since the I’ve left a voicemail and email complaint with Munro. It should be interesting to see if and when they get back to me and appropriately resolve my issue.

  Had a flat tire, my mother called and he said go ahead and bring it down. Go there and dude has an attitude with me asking if she had an appointment and tells me its a 2 hour wait. I cant understand why you tell me to come down just for me to have to wait 2 hours without saying any of that information. Not going there again.

  A fine place to get new tires. Prices are competitive, service is prompt and they provide free rotation for the life of the tires. Employee at the service desk was friendly and informative.
