The place looked so run down, even from the outside appearance alone, with gas station banners that were ragged and looked like they belonged in a ghost town. I went to three different gas pumps, one after the other, all of which were low on gas, so the guage was barely moving. I would have been standing there forever. I desperately needed to fill up after a long drive from the east end of Long Island and couldn't even do that. I had to find another gas station late at night. Not fun. Life lesson: Plan ahead.
