- EAEricka Applebee4 days ago1.0I’m not sure what about me reads as “incompetent” or “easily scammed” but I am neither of the aforementioned, and maybe Im over reacting or jumping to conclusions, but I’ve done my research to validate my claims before coming here… I came to monro this past Monday to get one tire replaced after damaging a tire a few days prior… during the tire change the mechanic directly replacing the tire, called out to another worker… after that worker came back to the waiting area he informed me that whoever had put the donut on had misaligned the threads on the stud/lug nut and that caused the stud to no longer be useful and it needed to be replaced… honestly, it sounded reasonable to me so I allowed them to proceed with replacing the stud,.. the problem arose when I received my bill. I was charged for the tire etc AND a “brake adjuster kit overall”/“brake adjuster kit total rear brakes”. It immediately made me suspicious, and I have since verified that not only do the brakes have NOTHING to do with a tire change in general or a new stud BUT additionally, for the make and model of my vehicle a brake adjuster kit DOESNT EXIST AT ALL. My vehicle has disc brakes, not drum brakes…. So not only was I charged for a part that I didn’t need, I was charged for a part that DOESNT EXIST FOR MY VEHICLE make/model. I am with out a doubt reaching out to corporate in the morning and probably the attorney general consumer protection agency, and the better business bureau.. I’m sorry they thought my tiny little woman brain wouldn’t notice. I may not be a mechanic, but fortunately for me I’m not completely brain dead.

Never received back, no word at all. So the day I took off work was completely waisted because of unprofessionalism and now I still dont have new tires. Would give zero stars if possible

Thank God I was suspicious…I was told my inspection went fine but my “front and back brakes were down to 20% and my air filter was terribly dirty…we have the parts and the estimate comes to $1027…”!!! I told them NO and went to Fingerlakes Tire where they confirmed my brakes had more than 50% life left and the filter was fine, at no charge!! Avoid Mavis at all costs…liars and thieves!! 😡

If it's not a brand new car they dont want to take the time to actually do any work. And if it is a new car they overcharged based on it being new. Here, I haven't experienced this. Straight forward mechanics who listen and give suggestions. I recommend.
