TLDR: Poor communication and poor service leads to fine from DMV and miscommunication about car repair. Will not purchase from this company again and would not recommend for repairs/maintenance.
On 10/13/25, I purchased a car from Northtowns Volkswagen. When I picked up the Certified Used 2023 Volkswagen Taos I had purchased, I noticed a crack in the bumper. I contacted my sales rep, Ben Mazurowski (ext. 21206) about the issue and was notified that I could bring the car in to be checked out by the collision shop.
I brought the Taos in on 10/23/25. Ben and a collision shop rep took my car over for evaluation and I was told I would be receiving a bumper replacement, not just a repair. I was told I would receive a call from the collision shop shortly to schedule an appointment. Thirteen days passed and I heard nothing. I attempted to text Ben several times (proof attached) with no response. I ended up calling the collision shop myself, where I was informed that no bumper order had been placed, only an estimate.
When Ben eventually responded, I was told his 'guy' forgot but put the order in. Ben then confirmed I would be receiving a bumper replacement via text (proof attached).
I contacted the collision shop and made an appointment and informed them that Ben had placed an order for a bumper replacement. They still received no directive from Ben to do so. I attempted to call Ben twice as well as the sales manager, Joe, for clarification. I received no call back from either party and dropped off my car on 11/10/25 in hopes that I could get more answers at the office. In the end, there was no clarification.
To make matters worse, on 11/11/25, I received a SUSPENSION NOTIFICATION from the DMV due to a lapse of insurance coverage. This was, in fact, not accurate as I have documentation of continuous coverage. Nonetheless, my options after tireless calls to the DMV and an appointment at the Eggert office location were to either pay a fine or hand over my plates.
Ben did respond shortly after I had sent him a text regarding the DMV situation. I was instructed to pay the fine and that Northtowns would send me a reimbursement check in the mail, which I have not received yet as of this posting.
To add onto this pile, as of today, 11/17/25, I contacted the collision shop now that my car has been in their possession for a week. When I called this morning at 8:38am, I was told that my car has been done for days and apparently no one thought to contact me. I had to then ask the collision shop what was even done to my car as NO ONE could clarify what was actually being completed. A REPAIR was completed but not a REPLACEMENT. Which leads me to question, where is the bumper that was supposedly ordered?
In all, my experience has been extremely frustrating and deeply disappointing. I feel that once my car was purchased, my sales rep could have cared less about assisting with the replacement part and in general I felt like an annoyance to him while I tried to navigate this situation. I understand that my repair is nothing in comparison to the collision work they must see daily, but bare minimum communication could have saved this situation. I will applaud GiGi with the collision shop who shared my frustration in the lack of communication as well and assisted me in scheduling an appointment.

Definitely 5 stars!! We worked with Michelle for buying a new VW and had a great experience. We had our choice of 4 local dealers but so glad we went with Michelle and Northtown. They made test drives easy and relaxed, and she and Joe worked with us all along the way! Michelle was really helpful and responsive and, even after buying, she continues to be!

My experience was NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. I wish I had the positive experience many others had on their reviews. I went to the dealership to purchase a new vehicle. I haven't purchased a vehicle since 2008. I went in on a Saturday, I found a vehicle I liked. I did the paperwork. I advised the sales rep Molly I already had pre-approval from my insurance company for the loan. Apparently the finance guy wasn't fond of my insurance company and wanted to search other companies meaning pull my credit again, and again. I was approved by a bank to their liking I signed the paper work, and put the vehicle on my insurance. I was to pick up the vehicle on Monday as this was a Saturday sale. By Monday I was advised the vehicle needed a part. I was placed in a loaner vehicle for almost two weeks. No part came and no ETA, I was back to square one looking for another vehicle. This time more stressful, I had to remove the first vehicle off my insurance. That came with several phone calls. I selected another vehicle, the same style. I was told the vehicle was detailed and certified. Well I could tell it was not detailed. About a week later I closed the driver side door and the door came apart. I brought the car back to service. I was advised the new part had to be ordered. It has been a few weeks and I'm driving around in a supposedly certified vehicle with the door handle disconnected. While I was there for the door the service lady was nice enough to put a windshield wiper on the back window. There was none. Yet this vehicle was certified? I'm riding around like this unhappy in a vehicle I purchased from this dealership. Whatever happened to integrity? My experience is a SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS. I sent an email to the general Manager. No reply. If I could give half of one star I would for each time I am in my car and I close the door. Not a GOOD EXPERIENCE 😠I am close to contacting the BBB and The NYS Attorney General office. Who drives around in a newly purchased car in this condition?
