My unit says vol 3 required-lockout. What does that mean?

Gavin with Pete's treated my husband with nothing but respect. The whole facility was quick and efficient. We both want to thank Gavin for his wonderful customer service The intoxalock representative Greg was outstanding. He walked us through this process so smoothly. He also connected us with a wonderful representative for insurance. He made this process much easier to go through.

This is in three parts with an adjunct. 1) The service to install the device was very nice and friendly. The technician showed me how to breathe into the device so that my car would start. What he did not do was tell me how to shut it off so it didn't drain my battery. I initially gave them a 1 star for lack of information on how the interlock device worked. 2) When I got home I shut the car off and the lights and words were still lit on the device. I waited to see if they turned off automatically. After awhile, I push the black square in the middle and it appeared to go off. That evening I received a lockout message from Intoxalock. How can that be? I didn't attempt to drive the car as I was going out of town. 3) I could not get any one from Intoxalock on the phone over the weekend - so much for 24/7 service! Bottom line: service technicians need to do a better job of explaining how to use the device to avoid lockouts and other issues. Adjunct: Since the install, I have been in touch with Daniel from Intoxalock who has been very helpful and responsive. He gets the 5 star rating for helping to completely explain the interlock device use and how it works.

Vastly appreciated all of my agent, Isaias help. He made sure to accommodate my needs as best as he could including deducting charges for a certain amount of time due to my specific situation and being completely understanding of everything, as well as being on call whenever. Very efficient and had great customer care.

It's funny how the law enforcements devices are a simple test machine and you are arrested with out any effort, and the one that is used for vehicles is extremely ridiculous and out of line with reality.. A TWO tiered rigged system so that they win and we loose. Things must change for the peoples sake, enough is enough...

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
