- RJRobert JaffeFeb 24, 20265.0Came in to buy a replacement 12 V battery for my late model Plug-in Prius. Lady at the front desk was prompt and attentive to my asking if my current battery's health could be tested before the purchase and she cheerfully agreed to come out and test it's health. The battery proved to be in good health, though it needed additional charging. She did not try to sell me anything but merely provided important and from my perspective, potentially life saving advice about the additional charging I still needed to do. The entire interaction from entering the store was little over 5 minutes. Previously I had a very informative phone call with the store's manager about exactly which battery would be best. Again, no attempts at upselling only very useful information, cheerfully provided. I can't imagine going anywhere else when this batteries eventually dies. Side note: This feels like a highly functional perhaps older business that is not going for state-of-the-art style; merely old-fashioned, down-to-earth functionality. Highly recommended.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
