I don’t recommend Intoxalock if you live in a rural area because if you get locked out and have to have it recalibrated you will have to have your vehicle towed in my instance my truck broke down and missed my calibration called Intoxalock they said that I can do a mobile calibration once my truck was fixed got it fixed but since I missed my calibration it got locked out I called to get it calibrated and they lied I couldn’t get a mobile calibration and they said I have to have my truck towed . To get my truck towed to the service center it’s going to cost me over 1209 dollars. So now I can’t drive and they don’t have any solution for me to get this solved. I would not recommend getting Intoxalock if you live in a rural area in New Mexico cuz if you get locked out you basically are screwed. I’m pissed off.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
