I’m leaving this review to share a very disappointing experience at the Wayne, NJ AutoZone.
I purchased windshield wipers at this location and asked an employee if he could install them. He agreed, but struggled significantly during the installation. At one point, he removed one of the wipers and left the bare metal wiper arm raised while he continued working. It was a windy day.
Believing the arm had simply been left up accidentally and trying to prevent it from slamming down, I attempted to lower it. The exposed metal arm snapped back and cracked my windshield, resulting in an expensive repair bill—all from what should have been a simple wiper installation.
The employee never warned me not to touch the arm, never explained the risk, and left my vehicle in an unsafe condition during the installation. Eventually, he confirmed the wipers were correct and installed them, but the damage had already been done.
What’s even more frustrating is the lack of accountability afterward. I contacted AutoZone and was eventually reached by a regional manager, who incorrectly stated that the employee was not present when the incident occurred. That is not true—the employee was outside with me, and we walked inside together afterward. Despite multiple follow-ups, no fair resolution or compensation was offered, and communication stopped.
I understand I physically lowered the arm, but that action only occurred because of the unsafe situation created by the employee during a service AutoZone offers. I was not looking for a handout—just reasonable accountability for damage that occurred under their care.
I strongly caution others: if you have an AutoZone employee install anything on your vehicle, be very careful. If something goes wrong, don’t expect the company to take responsibility

I’ve been a regular customer at this location but today when I bought a battery they refused to help me install it even though it says they do on their window. When I asked the cashier they kept pushing it off to someone else until they eventually said they were too busy even though there was no one besides me in the store

Matt and Yasser are the best. Greeted me with kindness and assisted me with changing a head light on my vehicle. I was worried about getting pulled over for a violation, and they eased my concerns. What absolute awesome customer service.
Another item off of the to-do list due to Matt and Yasser’s assistance with the head light.
