I had a very disappointing experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car at the South Plainfield, NJ location.
I received a rental car through my insurance company (Geico) while my own car was in the repair shop. The repair has taken longer than expected and it has now been over 19 days. During this time, I repeatedly received calls from this Enterprise location telling me that Geico would only pay for the rental for a certain period and that I had to return the car.
Each time, I checked with the repair center, and they clearly told me that since my car was still with them, I shouldn’t worry and that Geico would continue to cover the rental.
Despite this, today I received another call from Enterprise, and they insisted I return the car before 1 PM. I explained that my car was still not ready and that I was still waiting on the repair center. I also told them that if Geico did not cover any extra days, I was willing to pay the remaining amount when I returned the car after my car was actually repaired. They refused to consider this and kept saying, “That’s not our problem, you have to pay the balance and return the car today.”
Because of this pressure, I had to ask a friend to help me with a ride, and I returned the car earlier than I should have.
At the location, I paid the amount they requested and asked for a receipt so I could submit it to my insurance. The front desk agent told me the printer was not working and that they had emailed the receipt. When I checked the email, it only showed the amount Geico paid, not the amount I personally paid. I asked again for a proper receipt, and the agent repeated that the printer wasn’t working and told me that if I wanted proof, I would have to take a photo of the receipt on his computer screen. In the end, I had no choice but to take a photo.
Overall, I feel that:
I was pressured and threatened into returning the car early, even though my own car is still in the repair shop.
They were not transparent or helpful about the billing and receipts, making it harder for me to claim the amount from insurance.
The way I was treated was unprofessional and unfair.
Because of this experience, I would not recommend this Enterprise location, especially for customers using insurance rentals
Great company to rent and work for!
Horrible experience with one of the managers over there . My payment out of pocket as I was told didn’t match with the amount upon return.i wanted a car 🚗 whose payment was less than what my insurance was going to pay .The manager showed me a car for which my out of pocked was going to be less and I agreed only to return the car and I had to pay out of pocket . He rid me of over $150.00 and he never didn’t wanna refund it. Guys be careful and make sure all is set well before you leave. Some of the workers are honest people.
My recent experience at this Enterprise Rent-A-Car location was so profoundly disturbing that I feel compelled to write this review as a warning to all potential customers. While the general staff at the counter were polite and seemed to be trying their best, their efforts are completely overshadowed by the toxic and abusive behavior of the boss, a man named Jeff. The environment he cultivates is one of hostility and intimidation, and no amount of convenient car rentals is worth subjecting yourself to it.
I walked into the branch and immediately witnessed a scene that was both shocking and disgraceful. A customer, a woman who was being nothing but respectful, was being verbally assaulted by Jeff. Her tone was calm and she was clearly trying to resolve a situation, but Jeff was outright nasty and belligerent. He was condescending, aggressive, and his entire demeanor was one of pure contempt for the person standing in front of him.
The situation escalated rapidly and horrifically. Despite the customer doing absolutely nothing wrong—she wasn't raising her voice, making threats, or causing a scene—Jeff threatened to call the police on her. Let me be perfectly clear: this was an unhinged overreaction to a simple customer interaction. It was a blatant abuse of power designed to intimidate and silence. The way he specifically targeted this female customer raised immediate red flags for me; it felt like an act of discrimination, whether based on gender or something else, I cannot say for certain, but the targeting was unmistakable.
This is not an isolated incident that you can just hope to avoid. A manager who is capable of such a public and unprofessional outburst will inevitably try this behavior on anyone he deems an easy target. Jeff is a nasty individual who should not be in a position of authority, let alone one that involves customer service. He creates a volatile and unsafe environment where you feel that at any moment, for any minor reason, you could be his next victim.
I will never, under any circumstances, rent from this specific Enterprise location again. I urge you to seriously consider taking your business elsewhere. The convenience of a rental car is not worth the risk of being subjected to Jeff's vile behavior and public humiliation. Save yourself the stress and the outrage; this man does not deserve your business, and this location does not deserve to operate until he is removed. Stay far away.

Had a good experience with this location! The staff was nice and helped get my car ready quickly even when I arrived a little early. The SUV I rented was really nice, new and clean. Drop-off was also a breeze. I would definitely return to this location.
