Beware — everything the last 1-star reviewer said is true. I wish I had seen it before hiring Tom. Working with him has been nothing short of a disaster.
From the beginning, he made promises he didn’t keep: quoting one timeline, then disappearing for weeks. Quoting one price, then trying to double it. Thankfully, I got him back down to the original quote — but even that barely felt like a victory, because the product he delivered was not what I ordered.
For two months, I was clear that I wanted a navy flybridge cover — we discussed it multiple times in person and over text. What does he show up with? A black cover. His excuse? “I couldn’t get navy.” At minimum, a professional would notify the customer before proceeding with an entirely different material — not just make whatever was easiest for himself and hope the customer would accept it.
Worse, the job itself is sloppy and functionally useless. There are stitch marks and chalk lines all over the canvas, clear signs of rushed, careless work. Even more critical, I was explicit that the front section of the flybridge cover should be fitted to the existing hooks above the windshield to fully protect the helm — the entire purpose of having the cover made in the first place. Instead, Tom decided on his own to sew it flush with the edge of the flybridge, leaving visible gaps and openings. With the uneven sewing and lack of proper closure, it’s obvious water will pour in during any serious storm. Maybe he ran out of that black fabric?
Sadly, Tom seems confused and overwhelmed and it shows. I would strongly urge anyone considering him to stay away. I imagine there are more competent and professional canvas workers out there, wish I had searched a little more.
