I fly into Newark often and use this vehicle rental every time. Gail has been a frequent friendly face and makes the start of my trip better. There is always a variety of vehicle options within my selected tier and the rental process has always been seamless.

Rudest service I have ever received at a car rental. Arrived at the airport at 1 AM to a woman aggressively gesturing with her hands to move forward. She kept pressuring me to move forward over and over again even when my car was loudly beeping to stop because there was barely any space left. Eventually I got out and she rudely told me that she has 200 cars coming today and doesn’t have room for spaces. As if I’m supposed to risk hitting another car to make her job easier! Needless to say I won’t be using this enterprise location again.

I had booked this location for a compact SUV pickup last month for my 5-day road trip at the end of last year. The staff was very friendly and communicative, i was told to choose between a Hyundai Venue and a Ford Escape and picked the Hyundai car. Everything was fine until late evening when we started experiencing some foul smell emanating from the ac vents. At first, we thought it was something coming from the outside. Unfortunately it kept coming and we had to switch off the ac. I stopped and called the enterprise customer care for a replacement car (Nissan Rogue) and they asked me to pickup it up in their nearest location. That process was smooth and we didn’t face any sorts of issues in the Nissan car. Even though I wasn’t happy with the overall experience, I’m still giving it a 3-star review becoz of the quick turnaround and the way the issue was solved. A friendly advice to anyone picking up a rental car: always turn the ac vents in for a few mins and check if they’re any issues and then proceed.
Update: I reached out to the customer service and the manager of the rental service Nick called me and asked about my issues. I asked for half of the amount that I paid to be refunded and I was able to get the same! Thanks a lot Nick! I really feel appreciated as a customer! I’m changing my rating to 4-stars.

I had a mixed experience with Enterprise at Newark (EWR) Airport.
On the positive side, the cars are well-maintained and the front office staff was professional and helpful during pickup and drop-off. No complaints there.
However, the Lost & Found department is absolutely terrible and completely unprofessional.
I returned my car on December 17 and accidentally left my very expensive sunglasses in the armrest compartment. I realized this within 3–4 hours of returning the vehicle and immediately called the location. I was told to file a Lost & Found report, which I did right away.
Because the item was valuable, I even sent a friend to the rental location the same evening to check in person. They didn’t even bother to look, just brushed him off saying, “It’s a process, if we find it, we’ll let you know.” This makes no sense when they knew exactly which car it was and exactly where to check.
I continued calling daily and got the same scripted response: “Wait a week, it’s a long process.” After waiting, another friend visited in person and was again dismissed with the same excuse.
What makes this worse is the Lost & Found website. The last listed found item at the EWR location was a tablet from December 15. Nothing after that. Meanwhile, other Enterprise locations update their lost items daily. It’s simply not believable that no one left anything in rental cars after December 15 at a busy airport like EWR.
This points to either negligence or something more concerning, but either way, it’s unacceptable. If you lose something in an Enterprise car at EWR, don’t expect any real effort to help you recover it.

There was no shuttle to the car rental (I am disabled), it was a hassle picking up my car (counter sent me to another brand, down the hall, outside, checked out with a tablet), and I was charged $100 extra for dropping it off at a nearby location instead of the Newark airport. I’ve done this same rental arrangement before and never been charged a drop fee.
I don’t prefer this brand and only rented because it was a work trip and I needed the transportation from the airport and then drop of at a neighborhood location.
When I have the choice, I will skip this car rental brand every time.
