- DSDouglas Stofer5 days ago5.0Broke down on the turnpike and got towed to this location. I was in a tight spot, and the two guys there were friendly and helpful - they humored me as I thought out loud about my best path forward, and after swapping in a new battery we tested and confirmed my alternator was shot. They had one in stock, and they put me on to Tim's Auto who despite it being after normal hours, were able to take me in and get me back on the road with a 90 minute turnaround. Big thanks to the guys here, really a "port in a storm" and crucial to getting things back on track in a timely manner. Cheers

And as most things auto related, I dropped a nut to the battery retainer. Went back to the store and Dave and Darren helped me out, they happen to have a few spare nuts lying around . What an amazing store and amazing crew!! Ty always helping their customers.

- TBTee BJan 7, 20265.0I stopped in to buy a new battery for my vehicle because the battery dies if it sits for a few days. David was very helpful. He tested the battery and alternator and said they're both fine. I really appreciated his honesty. After doing more research though, it's quite possible the issue is indeed with the battery even though the test showed it's okay. I'll probably buy a new battery anyway, and because of my experience at Advance, I'll definitely buy it from there. As well as any other auto parts I might need from now on!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
