BUYER BEWARE 🚨— Route 1 Hyundai in Monmouth Junction, NJ uses deliberately deceptive sales tactics to confuse customers during the leasing process. They show you one set of numbers during negotiation and then quietly change all the individual line items in the final contract while keeping your total the same. They make you FEEL like you’re getting an incredible discount when in reality absolutely nothing changed. This is not a mistake. This is a calculated, intentional sales tactic designed to confuse and rush customers into signing without fully understanding what they agreed to. They prey on customers who are excited about getting a new car and use that excitement against them. I left that dealership feeling like I got a great deal. I got home, read my contract carefully, and realized I had been completely played. The ‘discount’ they proudly gave me was nothing but smoke and mirrors. This dealership does not operate with honesty or transparency. They do not respect their customers enough to show them straightforward honest numbers. Instead they deliberately complicate the process to hide what you’re actually paying. I would strongly recommend avoiding this dealership entirely. If you must go, bring someone with financial knowledge, record every conversation, photograph every document they show you, and do NOT sign anything until you’ve had time to review everything carefully at home. There are plenty of honest Hyundai dealerships in New Jersey. This is not one of them

Don’t even come near this dealership😑 I recently leased a 2026 Hyundai Elantra SE from Route 1 Hyundai. Be aware of their pricing tactics. During negotiation, they showed me a handwritten sheet with inflated numbers — $139/month, $604 in taxes, and $411 for registration, totaling $3,695 due at signing. They they agreed for the advertised amount the monthly payment to $75, making me feel like I got a great deal. This was the actual advertised price online. Thats the reason i came here. However, when I received the actual signed contract, the numbers were completely different — taxes were $472, registration was $183, and monthly was $75 — but the total due at signing was still the exact same $3,695. They simply redistributed the numbers to make it appear like I received a significant discount when in reality the total never changed. They inflate numbers first, then fake-discount them while keeping your total the same. The final contract was legitimate but the sales process was deliberately misleading and deceptive. Always demand the final contract numbers BEFORE agreeing to anything. Don’t let them rush you with handwritten scratch sheets. Take your time, read everything carefully, and don’t let the excitement of a ‘discount’ cloud your judgment. I’m sharing this so others don’t feel confused or misled like I did. They try to confuse you numbers in every possible way.

My experience with Hyundai has been beyond unacceptable. I purchased a new vehicle, and it suddenly wouldn’t even start. That alone is a failure—but what followed was worse. I spent hours being bounced between departments, disconnected mid-call, and given conflicting (and frankly incorrect) information about my own service timeline. At one point, I was told I was wrong about when my car was brought in—despite having the records. No one has taken ownership of the issue. No one has provided a clear answer. And unbelievably, no one has helped arrange a loaner vehicle—leaving me stranded over a problem that should never happen with a new car. I ended up relying on AAA just to deal with a situation Hyundai should have handled from the start. This isn’t just poor customer service—it’s a complete breakdown in accountability. For a brand that markets reliability, this experience has shown the exact opposite. I’ve referred people to Hyundai in the past. That stops now. I will not be purchasing from this Hyundai location again, and I will be sharing this experience so others know exactly what to expect when something goes wrong.

I had an outstanding experience at the Hyundai dealership, and I want to give special recognition to Mr. Tariek and Alejandro. Tariek was an excellent salesman—knowledgeable, patient, and truly attentive throughout the entire process. Alejandro, the manager, was just as impressive—professional, hands-on, and committed to making sure everything went smoothly from start to finish. Both of them went above and beyond to ensure we were completely satisfied, and it really showed. The entire team created a welcoming and professional environment. The dealership itself was spotless, including the showroom and even the bathrooms, which speaks volumes about their attention to detail. The financing process was efficient—we were in and out in about an hour and a half—and everyone we interacted with was well-dressed, courteous, and carried themselves with the highest level of professionalism. I’m extremely happy with my 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Calligraphy, and I couldn’t have asked for a better buying experience. Highly recommend working with this team!

I purchased my 2025 Hyundai Tucson limited from Rt 1 Hyundai and had a great buying experience. I brought my car in last Monday for an oil change and a tire rotation. I was told it would be approximately 1.5 hours. After 2.5 hours I went to the service desk to see how much longer it would be. My keys were sitting at the desk waiting. When I got home, I took a look to see if my tires were rotated. They were not. I know this because I put a plug in my drivers side rear tire myself the previous month. That tire was also 2 pounds lower than the other three, the same as it was when I arrived. I called my service advisor. He said no problem, I could bring it in and they would take care of it. I explained to him that I had already lost half a day, with driving there, waiting, and my receipt said that the work was done. He put me on hold and checked with the mechanic. He insisted it was done. I explained the plug to him. He said that they could check the cameras to make sure it was done. I told him to please do that. One week later and I have not heard back. I responded to a text message on Tuesday from a Rt 1 employee asking how my service was. I responded with my problem. I have not heard back I also got an email from the Director of Business Development at Rt 1 Hyundai on Tuesday. I also responded to this email with the problem I had. I have not heard back. On Wednesday I responded to yet another email from Hyundai for customer feedback. I again explained my problem. I have not heard back from that either. Today I emailed Hyundai motor corporation explaining my dissatisfaction. I at least got an email back saying that they will get back to me. While this service was included with the cost of the new car, I am shocked to have a receipt for work done that I know was not performed. The lack of care shown by the dealership is even more disheartening. Why send all of these text messages, and emails about how much they care about your service experience when a simple problem is not addressed. I can not see bringing my vehicle back to Rt 1 to pay to have any work done when they can’t even get something as simple as a tire rotation done. Show me a video of my tire rotation being done and I will owe everyone an apology. Offer to pick the car up and have the work done and returned back to me so I do not have to be inconvenienced for their “mistake”. This was so simple to fix instead of losing a customer. I left all of the employee names off of this review on purpose. I do not think that this is the place to call them out. Be sure that the work that you pay to have done here is correctly done.
