- VCViolet Corcoran6 days ago1.0Quoted me $2,680 (before tax) for the full repair and confirmed that labor was included. I agreed and left my car there for the day. When I came to pick it up the next morning before work, the total had suddenly jumped to $3,800. When I questioned it, I was told they “forgot to add labor for the struts,” even though I specifically asked beforehand if labor was included and was told that it was. After I pushed back, they suddenly offered a $200 discount, which didn’t come close to explaining the nearly $1,100 increase from the original quote. From what I understand, mechanics generally aren’t supposed to exceed a written estimate by more than about 10% without approval, which definitely didn’t happen here. This situation left me feeling taken advantage of and extremely disappointed. As someone working two jobs and trying to stay on top of expenses, unexpected charges like this are incredibly difficult to deal with.
