- JMJameelah MackJan 28, 20265.0I had to go to Advanced Auto Parts last night to get coolant for my son’s car. The car didn’t have any heat and I was freezing. There were two young men working. The 1st young man (I didn’t catch his name) was so helpful and kind. He found the coolant I needed and went to grab it for me. I asked to use the restroom. I mistakenly knocked down some boxes on the way and he was also very sweet about that. When I told him what was going on with the car, he told me that he would look at it. Another customer came, so he had Isaiah help me. It was freezing outside. Isaiah came out and checked to see if the car was giving a service code. He told me the engine was fine and he offered to pour the coolant in. When I asked to give him a tip, he kindly said “No, ma’am. I did this for you, I have to look out for my sisters.” That was the very best experience I’ve ever had at an auto store. Those two young men are incredible.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
