Yesterday, the Sunday after Thanksgiving, we had a dead battery. We got the car to Advance around 2:00. They helped us immediately and we were back on the road in less than an hour. I will definitely be returning to Advance for my automotive needs!

I ended up having to drive to the store myself to get the part, completely defeating the purpose of paying extra for same-day delivery. When I went to the store, they only refunded me for the part, not the delivery fee. It’s unacceptable to charge customers for a service that was never fulfilled. I expect a full refund, including the same-day delivery fee. Very disappointed with this experience and the lack of accountability. Will be reconsidering future business with this location.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
