DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR LOCATION
I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with Safelite Auto Glass in Portsmouth, NH while having my Tesla windshield replaced.
At my first appointment, I was told after I arrived that the windshield they were about to install had “little scratches all over it” that they noticed only when they opened it, and I was asked if I was okay proceeding anyway. I was appalled by this question—why would anyone agree to install a defective product on their vehicle? I refused the install, and the appointment was rescheduled. I should have trusted my gut at that point.
After the rescheduled installation, I picked up my car after hours and immediately noticed scratches along the ridge of the windshield, consistent with damage caused during installation. I took photos of the damage in their parking lot that same night.
The following day, I returned for an evaluation. The employee who looked at the damage initially thought it would wipe off and proceeded to spray Windex directly on my car’s paint, which I did not think was appropriate. When it became clear the scratches would not come off, he recorded a video of the damage and gave me a business card along with the contact information for Valerie, the manager for the Portsmouth and Salem locations.
Valerie told me she would look into the issue and call me back. She never did. I made multiple follow-up calls over time with no response. When I finally reached her, she claimed the damage was caused by a car wash—even though I had not washed my car at all around that time and had photo evidence showing the damage while the car was still on their property. She refused to take responsibility, dismissed the timeline and evidence, would not acknowledge the lack of follow-up, and ultimately hung up on me. Her behavior was rude, dismissive, and highly unprofessional.
Between attempting to install a scratched windshield, damaging my vehicle during installation, poor communication, and outright refusal to take accountability, this experience was unacceptable—especially for a high-end vehicle like a Tesla.
I would not recommend this location based on workmanship, customer service, or management accountability.
