He was VERY helpful, genuine, knowledgeable, and I really appreciated all he did for me. He did not ask for the Google review, there is no promotion or discount if you leave one. I just feel as though EXCEPTIONAL and HARDWORKING, HONEST employees deserve the recognition even if it's in a small way. He was also the only associate working the front of the store, another employee was working in the back. I hope his manager realizes he is a true asset and for women going into any type of auto repair or auto service places it can be intimidating or anxiety driven; I am not very familiar with automotive or automobile repair, parts, only basic maintenance; and this was not the case for me at all today. I am very thankful for John at advance auto parts on 90th! Thank you :)

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
