You are unable to dispute anything and everything is a valid violation to them. They’ll switch you to several people and still won’t be helping you.

DO NOT GET INTOXALOCK company interlock nor Roadgaurd!!!! I can’t stress it enough ! Dangerous faulty equipment and charges!!! There are other interlock providers but they got an average of killing 1556 customers a year if that tells you anything. I spent over 6 k to have Intoxalock removed from one vehicle , Roadgaurd installed into another. Roadgaurd failed to send there installation certificate to the dmv.., after 15 days after installation soo I was innocently arrested , completely humiliated. I think I’m a prime example of what happens if you don’t follow the rules and you get a DUI.

INTOXALOCK is literally THE WORST POSSIBLE interlock option out there. Avoid using INTOXALOCK at all costs. Please do yourself a favor and use Draeger or any other option. Being lied to, overcharged, AWFUL overseas customer service, there is not a single aspect of intoxalock service that is good. Intoxalocks #1 issue is transparency. First the salesman lied about being able to set up payments on my paydays. He basically agreed to tell me what I wanted to hear out of convenience. Then every price they tell you has additional fees and taxes added to it, usually expect to pay about 10-15% above what they say. The biggest issue , other than being lied to, is the actual equipment. The Intoxalock handset has a constant voltage draw on your vehicles electrical system, overtime ruining your battery. Even when you shut the handset off per instructions, don’t be surprised to sit in your car for 2 minutes waiting for it to warm up, only to find out your battery is drained and car won’t start. Call customer service you say?! GOOD LUCK!! Typical wait time is 30 mins. Their customer service is not US Based, meaning even tho someone “speaks English” they often can’t understand what you’re explaining to them and will just keep reading the teleprompt on their screen, or hang up on you. Yes I’ve had customer service HANG UP ON ME on 3 separate occasions. Now that I’ve suffered through their services for 18mos after trapping myself in a lease agreement, they want to charge me MORE TO UNINSTALL THE DEVICE THAN THE INTIAL SETUP FEES!! Over $275 to uninstall? No! I am not going to be pushed around anymore!

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.

What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
