Review Updated and Issues Resolved AGAIN!!
My service center is excellent however the service has been found wanting. I have had the system since the end of August and have gotten 8 lockouts which were due to faulty equipment but have gotten refunded for only 3. That's over $400 paid even tho it was their fault. Not to mention wasted time on the phone and at the service center getting things reset. I'm usually on hold for no less than 30 minutes trying to get things straightened out before even speaking with a human being. If physical deficits on my part didn't keep me from using a different system I would definitely make the switch.
An intoxalock advocate got in contact with me after I wrote my original review. He was very sympathetic to my situation. He listened to my concerns and in the end credited my account for all the remaining violations and was so very apologetic about my experience. Needless to say this made me so happy and put all my issues to rest. Thank you so much Daniel for reaching out to me and rectifying the problems. You made me feel heard and appreciated.
So here I am a year later. My lease of the equipment ended 7/23. I had been calling intoxalock incessantly and had been to the service station before and after this date and even talked to them about the end date and yet no one told me that I had met my obligation and that a removal appointment needed to be scheduled. Instead a message was left saying that everything was fine and no action was needed on my part. Two weeks and $117 later I discovered it was passed time. And I called several times. Instead of returning the $117 they made trumped up charges and fees to bring my account to a 0 balance after sending me an email saying I owed them even more money. As if that was going to placate me. Throughout this year I have spent hours upon hours on the phone with them and at the service station because of false lockouts , malfunctioning equipment, equipment replacements, etc. I've had to get my battery replaced twice with brand new batteries because the equipment drained it. I've had no less than 30 lockouts, all of which were refunded because it was found to be due to faulty wiring or equipment failure. I've had to drive 20 minutes to and from the service station every single time. I am so glad to be done with these people but I absolutely will be looking into what can e done to get my money returned to me. I am on a fixed income and I can't afford to let this go. I am out money, time, and peace of mind. Intoxalock do better. You can't keep kicking people while they're down trying to get things right the right way.
Once again my intoxalock hero, Daniel, has reached out to me. He has reviewed my account and says that he will in fact be refunding me my $117.63. I'm super satisfied with this outcome and will be updating my stars accordingly. Its a shame to have had all the issues I have had with this company, it's service and equipment. However, it's really nice to know that they have people like Daniel who listen, review and respond to those issues and concerns and work hard to make things right. I honestly don't think I would have received the care, attention, or response that I've gotten from Daniel anywhere else or with anyone else. I give intoxalock 3☆s.. Daniel gets 10.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.
