- MMMichelle MckinnonFeb 16, 20262.0I give 2 stars because I came in for a part and I could not get my military discount because only one employee could over ride ithe sale . I was asked did I want to wait on the person to change a battery , like are you kidding me , I’m a veteran I shouldn’t have to wait for a battery replacement before someone can over ride the sale. Advance auto parts needs to do better and make it where the employees can do the discount without having to stand around to wait 15 minutes having only one manager to do the over ride ! Needless to say I didn’t get to use my discount! The employee was nice and he could tell that I was disappointed and I couldn’t just wait, my car was broke down and he was apologetic . Advance auto parts needs to do better !

The staff is there to help but does not stalk you around the store. I've been shopping here the last couple of years and they have always had the parts I need in stock.

Yes we do offer free battery installation on most products with purchase. We will also recycle and test your battery for free regardless if you bought it from us. Battery testing and installation is available at most of our locations.

Typically a car battery will last 2-5 years, with premium batteries lasting 5-6 years. But you should replace it every 4 years for safe measures if you want to avoid any unwanted problems.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
