I had a screw in my tire, so I took it to Mavis Tires & Brakes for repairs. The customer service was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful. They didn't charge me to remove the screw, which is something other shops might have done by suggesting I needed an entirely new tire. Thank you for your honest service; I truly appreciate it. You can count on my business again in the future! TS

Front left tire on our Toyota Sienna had a slow leak and it needed to be addressed. I called Mavis and Joe answered my call. He helped schedule service and told me about how long it would take AND the cost so I knew exactly what to expect.
Anyway, everything went as planned. They started the job. When Joe was checking to see if I’d been a customer there before, I told him I’d come in once 18 months back…and it actually wasn’t a great experience. We had an alignment done…but at the end, they realized that they didn’t have the specs for the ‘24 Sienna and they had accidentally done the work based on the specs for a ‘23 Sienna. And now the indicator lights on the dash are on when you start it and they stay on…so they didn’t charge anything but said I’d need to take it to the dealership to straighten everything out. Disappointing…but when I got in and started the van, literally EVERY warning light was on in the dash - like the car thought every possible problem/emergency was happening all at once. But the worst part was that it beeped SO loudly and continuously. And then, the dealership had to “recalibrate the system” to stop the dash lights/beeping…on top of the alignment I needed…the cost was well over $700. Spent over 5 HOURS at that dealership that day. So yeah, it really, really sucked.
And Joe looked a little stunned 😳 - he said “listen man, that’s awful. Nothing like that is gonna happen today, no worries…I really don’t want you to think that you might go through anything that crazy with us ever again.” He seemed sincere, which it’s nice to feel heard even if I just had to vent - and I said “it’s just one of those things - it is what it is…but thanks for taking care of me today all the same.” I sat in the waiting area for 10-15 minutes…and Joe came back to inform me everything was good to go…so I was pleased it was handled quickly. But as I got ready to wrap everything up, Joe said “listen, man…we want you to feel like you can come back when you need us and NOT always remember…all the bad things that happened in your story. So yeah…we’re not gonna charge ya for the fix today. If you wanna tip the tech a dollar or two, you can - you don’t have to obviously but…that’s it. Trying to set things right this morning a little bit at least…”
It wasn’t going to be a huge bill to pay, but that gesture proved that he really did care, he valued my business, and he empathized with the struggles I’d described. That is what turned it around for me and made my visit today a great experience. Is it nice to unexpectedly save 40 bucks? Sure. But it wasn’t really about the money. It was the fact that he wanted to understand that whole mess and take steps, however he could, to help me feel better about it. I didn’t demand it or ask for it - he offered. That makes a big difference in my view.
I said “seriously?? Wow, that is awesome - and yeah, I definitely wanna tip the guy - what’s his name?” “It’s Tim.” I handed Joe 3 $2 bills for Tim. He said “whoa man, twos?? That is…so cool. I can’t remember the last time I saw any twos…for real. And Tim is like into that…like coins and old money stuff…he’s gonna love this.” I said “thanks again, much appreciated,” shook his hand, and got into my van with a sigh of relief. Mission accomplished.
Joe elevated what would usually be a mundane chore or minor inconvenience and he made it something more, something better. He could’ve just nodded along blankly as I yammered on with my tragic tale and then processed the transaction like he would with anyone else…and if he had, I wouldn’t have been offended. That was what I had expected…and I would’ve been fine with that.
As long as the leaky tire problem got fixed, that would be good enough. Joe didn’t *have* to do what he did - he *chose* to do it…because he really did care and he thought it was the right thing to do. That’s what I appreciated most.
Thank you Joe…thank you Tim…and I do hope that you fellas’ bosses see this review and promptly give you both a raise. You guys deserve it.
