We were told that our daytime running lights and rear side lights were not functioning and that they would need to be replaced by the shop in order to pass inspection. After reviewing our home security footage, we confirmed that all lights were, in fact, working properly. We also verified through the NCDOT that daytime running lights are not a requirement for North Carolina State Safety Inspection. This experience left us very concerned about the accuracy and honesty of the information we were given. We will not be returning to this location, and we advise others not to visit as well. The attitude and overall unprofessionalism that we were spoken to is not something that others should deal with. The following information below is provided by NCDOT. DRLs are not mandatory under North Carolina state law. They are often a manufacturer-installed option and are not considered a necessary part of the safety equipment covered by the state inspection, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The purpose of the safety inspection is to ensure that a vehicle meets the minimum safety standards for operating on the road, and DRLs do not fit this requirement.
