- KRKevin RadfordMar 1, 20265.0I brought in a DieHard AGM battery that kept passing handheld tests but was clearly failing under load. It has sulfated. The Smithfield store told me nothing was wrong, but the Selma team actually listened, ran a proper charger/tester check in the back, and confirmed the battery was bad. They replaced it on the spot, and my truck has been perfect since. Professional, helpful, and they took the time to do it right. Selma has earned my business.

I came in for a battery check and luckily Ishmael assisted with letting me know both batteries needed to be replaced asap. He talked me through my options, installed the batteries and made sure to give updates throughout the entire process. It def saved me what would have been an expensive trip to the Jeep service dept. HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
