I made this appointment with Safelite because of the link provided through Allstate insurance. Perhaps Safelite has the windshield process perfected, but their results in installing side glass leave a LOT to be desired.
My experience is with the Raleigh branch. The first tech, who was temporarily on loan from another location, was pleasant and timely, seemed to know what he was doing. However, the shop vac in the van he had been assigned did not work, and he was unable to get any of the broken glass out of the door interior. He suggested that I visit the shop, and they could clean out the door and have me on my way in about a half hour. 2 1/2 hours later, having missed a guitar lesson that I had paid for, spoken to condescendingly by a shop employee, I was given the car back with the door not closing properly. I couldn't wait any longer, and was offered a home service appointment the next day.
I saw that the reason that the door did not close fully was because a trim strip was not aligned properly (not sure why the shop guy didn't see this). The tech arrived, lined everything up, put it back together, advised me to leave the window up for a couple of days to let the rubber regain its original shape.
That was fine since it was cold, but when temperatures warmed up a couple of days later, and I lowered the window, it would only rise about 2". Drive to Safelite, they couldn't take me at the shop the same day. Covered up the car overnight, tech arrived at 1:30 for what was originally 8 to 12 appointment. I missed ANOTHER lesson that I had paid for. Eventually, he reassembled everything, and while the window works, the mechanism makes two distinct clicking noises, and lowering the window is not completely smooth. Having spent way more time than I had planned for, I asked the tech to note the problem in the service records so that I could follow up AGAIN.
4 visits, 10+ hours, 2 missed lessons, and I need to go back to the shop again. I am concerned that the window will stop working at some point if I don't get it corrected. While the staff were unfailingly polite and courteous, the shop associates need to not talk down to customers. You can form own conclusions about the level (or lack) of training their techs have. Bottom line, if you need window glass replaced, check around before you choose Safelite Raleigh.
