From the moment I walked in, the store felt clean, organized, and easy to navigate. The shelves were well stocked, everything was clearly labeled, and I didn’t feel like I had to hunt through clutter to find what I needed. It’s obvious the team takes pride in keeping the place in order. The real standout of the visit, though, was the staff. Every employee I interacted with was friendly, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. They didn’t just point me toward the aisle, they actually walked over with me, explained the differences between several products, and helped me choose the right one for my specific situation. You can tell they’ve helped a lot of people through a lot of repairs because they had a way of breaking things down that made it easy for anyone to understand. They even gave some helpful pointers about installation, all without making me feel rushed or talked down to. It was the kind of above and beyond service you hope for but don’t always get, especially when dealing with car issues that can already be stressful. Checkout was smooth and efficient, and the person at the counter double-checked my items to make sure I hadn’t forgotten anything important. It’s a small gesture, but it shows they’re paying attention. Overall, this Advance Auto Parts went well beyond expectations. Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
