    National is a company is about the same as anybody else. But this particular location is far below what you should expect for customer service. The worst part is how long you have to wait for the shuttle. Every other company has three or four shuttles and the time it takes one national shuttle to show up. It's likely you'll be waiting for at least a half hour. And when the shuttle does show up, you can bet that there's a line of people that fill it up. And the driver just shrugs and tells you to wait for the next one.

    Not the best experience with this group. Wasn’t going to give review, but after getting 2 emails asking, here I am. Arrived to pick up my rental for a business trip. I was under the impression it was taken care of by my company, but I could’ve misunderstood. Still a little frustrating that the person checking me in wasn’t willing/able to help look into it for me. The main reason for the low review is the condition of the vehicle that I was handed. It was by far the dirtiest rental I have ever had. I will more than likely go with another company from now on. With the expectations they have set on the condition of the car being returned, it should be reciprocated on their end as well.

    We reserved a van at National RDU. It couldn't have gone smoother picking up the car. Stepping off the bus we were greeted by a team member offering help. When I said we had a van reserved he went right away to get the van and bring it up for us. He also helped load our suitcases. I came back the next day with a friend to add him as a driver. We drove in, signed him up and he was done. No hassles.

    The overall experience is very good, especially on the car pick up, and options, and the fact that you can get any cars (in case you are emerald of higher). Fast, convenient, and offers a great car selection. Folks are friendly and mostly this was a hand off experience. The return is also fast and convenient. However, this is where matters need addressed. If you are at a busy location, and return you car close to your return time, the local crew will check in your car later than when you actually showed up in the lot, making that an extra day of a charge. Yes, you can call it in, and get that day charge removed, BUT not couple of fees, which the central CSRs cannot void; they will place a call to the local branch and then you have to wait for them to contact you. It's a hassle. hopefully this is not on purpose though...hence my 3 stars rating. In the end, you better close your contract before you leave the return lot.

    I am a regular business traveler based in RDU. I often need rentals out of my home airport and the National Team at RDU always does a fantastic job. Every interaction I have (which has been multiple times a week in 2025) is very pleasant. From the bus drivers to the terminal, the express checkout team, managers, Emerald Club booth staff, and exit gate team - all are great! Just yesterday, I arrived home from a trip and picked up a rental. Sylas greeted me when I stepped off the bus and assisted with getting me into a great vehicle for my needs this week. There is an extensive fleet available at RDU and the team does a good job replenishing inventory, especially for Emerald Club members. There are a lot of choices at RDU and I continue to chose National for the great selection of vehicles, friendly staff, and ease of transaction process. Great work, RDU staff!
