We had it towed to the advance parking lot and the manager said we could work on it there. (We made several purchases within the store). All of a sudden he changes his mind, no warning, we have to leave and this is after the tow truck leaves. He the calls the cops on us for trespassing. I understand it is a private owned store, it’s their decision, but if you tell us it’s okay then change your mind, that’s so crazy. At least tell us while we have the tow truck! Mind you we have small toddlers and an elderly woman in this group. Business was not handled the correct way here. If anyone needs help, and your not from this area, stay away from advance auto parts in Monroe NC!

After having to get a battery from a place that I thought would have treated me right ended up being an alternator problem not a battery issue. Thank yall for satisfying this costumer. This time, picking up a prepaid order turned into an unnecessarily difficult process. I provided the order number, which has always been sufficient in the past, but was subjected to excessive and unclear “extra verification” requirements. When I asked why this was suddenly necessary compared to previous pickups, no clear explanation was given. The situation escalated when the self-identified manager, Mark (who refused to provide his last name), insisted I also send a screenshot of my receipt, as if confirming the order number wasn’t enough. The entire interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and adversarial for a routine parts pickup. I understand policies and fraud prevention, but those should be communicated clearly and applied consistently. This was neither. The tone and approach made what should have been a simple transaction stressful and unpleasant. Mark, I genuinely hope you work on your customer service going forward — because this experience reflected poorly on management and the store as a whole. -Jacqueline

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
