- HJHank JrAug 6, 20235.0I want to send a humongous shout out and leave a great review for Erwin at the Advance Auto Parts in Kinston, North Carolina. From the moment I walked up to the store, he welcomed and acknowledged me with kindness, and eye contact. My encounter with Erwin displayed that he was personable, down-to-earth, eager to assist, and professional. As he was helping me, he greeted everyone that came into the store and that's really important these days because not enough employees know how to speak without being awkward and making eye contact or they are too lazy to put in the effort! I was anxious as I was on a road trip, and his calm, in-charge persona was exactly what I needed at the moment because I was frustrated, hot, and worried with a long drive ahead of me. This employee is exactly what our world needs more of and he is definitely leadership material. Schools don't teach his high quality people skills, as he was friendly and observant, making eye contact with other shoppers to acknowledge them while still helping me find what I needed, but I can't speak highly enough of his calm, cool, expertise, genuine cut above the rest professional disposition. I will definitely stop in again if I'm ever in the area and in need of automotive products, and will definitely recommend this Advance Auto to all of my friends and associates who travel through this area (as we typically shop at AutoZone, and in fact, had stopped at it first and they were not helpful, so I, thankfully, checked out Advance Auto and encountered Erwin's superb customer skills).

Typically a car battery will last 2-5 years, with premium batteries lasting 5-6 years. But you should replace it every 4 years for safe measures if you want to avoid any unwanted problems.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
