- JJJohn JacobsJan 20, 20265.0I recently needed a new battery and stopped by the local advance auto. The staff was ready and greeted me quickly when walking into the store and offered to assist. Explained to Aaron about needing a new battery and due to my car he needed to look at the style of battery due to being multiple types. Aaron recognized quickly it was a battery sold by advance auto, ran my details, and let me know it was covered under warranty. For a transaction I was expecting to spend much more on it was fully covered. This was refreshing when the employee could have easily just sold the battery and instead taking an extra step and saving the customer money. A great way to have repeat customers!!!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
