My wife took her Jeep for a simple oil change in October. Fast forward 2 months and I check the oil, and it is way over full. I drove it to the shop and told them that I thought it was about a quart over full because the level was an inch above the full mark. They took a look at it and when they came to get me, I asked how much oil they had to take out. He said that he removed about a tenth of a quart and showed me that it was now at the full mark. I told him that he didn't take enough out because a lot of oil was still in the top of the engine so the level indication on the dipstick wasn't correct. He argued back that the jeep had been sitting for long enough for all of the oil to drain back to the sump. So I gave up, drove home, and let the jeep sit for a couple of hours. I checked it again and unfortunately I was correct. Level was still high as indicated by the picture below. To resolve the issue I took off the oil filter, let as much oil as possible drain, and put a new one on. The oil filter was way over torqued btw.
