Not so good. Had one tech there, tending to whoever came in the door. At least 4 to 5 customers while I was there, all with different issues with there vehicle's. I got there at 12 noon didn't leave until after 5p.m. The tech seemed to be doing the best he could considering the situation. All I could think is first come first serve. We had very little conversation about the device , but covered the basics . I downloaded the intoxicalock app and saw that I owed a balance, even though the service was prepaid for already. Then leaving i was told that the practice device i blew into had less resistance than the one installed in my car. The device is also kind of bulky. I got my fingers crossed that everything will work out though...

Lunch hours posted online would be amazing! Considering they go for like an hour and a half or two hours in the middle of the day. If I work from 8-5 and that’s the hours, when should I come have my vehicle serviced? Why would the entire office close when there is more than one person working? My car was obviously affected by the breach that nobody has mentioned and dealing with this company is just horrifying in general.

They have to be profiting from these lockout charges somehow. I have had my car towed to this place so many times but it’s the only one in my city so it’s the only option. They watched my car lockout due to having to continuously, jump it off and steal. Let me pull off and incur another lockout fee. I’d suggest moving to a different city just so you can have a different service center.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.
Where do I get an ignition interlock device?
Ignition interlock devices can be installed at certified service centers nationwide. Intoxalock offers a convenient network of locations and helps you schedule an installation appointment near you. Visit our Intoxalock locations page or call us to find the nearest service center and begin the installation process.
How long will my installation take?
Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
If your ignition interlock device locks you out, it’s usually due to missed tests, failed tests, or state-specific requirements.
