- JFJordan FulpMar 9, 20261.0Grew up in the area. Twice, I have replaced my battery with advance. What could go wrong? This past weekend around 3pm. I asked the gentleman if I could get my battery tested, he did, “yes it says new battery” okay cool. Purchased. They installed it backwards. Next thing you know theres 4 reps under the hood and some additional input from Mavis. Everyone said it was the alternator… $500-$900 job. Im freaking out. The car wouldnt move. I tested the alternator through other resources… turns out its fine. A $150 tow got my car home the next day…in which my family and I discovered it was the fuse they blew installing the battery incorrectly. Ive managed a mechanic shop and I get it when things like this happen and the anxiety as a technician… I trusted these guys, but i learned a valuable lesson.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward.
