Not really sure what to think of this Bass Pro. Pretty disappointed at some of the employees that work here. To start off this is my first experience buying a boat from any Bass Pro and I spent over 4k on a new jon boat, new Mercury 5HP motor and other accessories. Chris helped me out and did a great job in sales trying to make sure I got exactly what I wanted for my boating needs. I then started to try and do the paperwork and I will say the lady in administration for boat sales on that Saturday was extremely off putting with how she handled the stress of multiple people trying to buy boats all that morning. Almost made me cancel everything but I continued on just understanding everyone has bad days sometimes. Then I received the boat and was told I can come back later to get the motor after it had been filled with fluids and tested. I came back later that day and picked up the motor and wrapped it in a moving blanket, set it right side up in the storage unit and then the next day took both out to the lake. Got on the water and tried to start the motor, and no luck at all. I have never owned an outboard motor so I didn’t want to mess with it too much so I took it straight to bass pro the next morning to drop off. They figured out the motor had no oil inside and had leaked out somehow assuming I placed it on the wrong side. Not only was I extremely careful about the placement of the motor, because of how expensive it is and how I wanted to make sure everything worked properly, but there also was no evidence of any oil on the moving blanket I carry it with either. They did work on cleaning and refilling the oil very quickly and get it back to me as soon as I was able to come pick it up which I really appreciate. Either way that could have just been a freak situation. I then was finally able to have a full day at the lake with this motor and it worked flawlessly! I was so happy and was glad to put all the problems behind me. Next day I took it back out and for some reason the pull cord would not work. I tried everything knowing how to successfully run it multiple times the day before I was unable to start it up again. I took it back to bass pro and Eddie did a great job of explaining that it was working fine and showed me him starting it up. Not exactly sure why I or anyone else on the lake that day couldn’t get it to pull but it works great now. I was happy with everything until I read the paper he gave me about the work they did. They said I OVERFILLED the oil??? I called back to verify and the lady named Rea who had been trying to help me out through each problem said yes it was overfilled when brought in. I have never put any oil inside this motor and Bass Pro was the ONLY one who did the work on the oil refill. She tried to deny it was them which is highly unprofessional. Just really frustrating when you spend so much money on something and you deal with all this. I do believe Rea needs a little more customer service training to ensure customer satisfaction at that store. After me explaining all this her response is “what do you want me to do about it?” Then saying “we are not doing this right now sweetie I’m going to have my manager call you back later today when it’s convenient for him”. Once again extremely unprofessional. I probably would not choose this Bass Pro again and it’s sad because I really love their company and MOST of the people who work there.
