- AFAllie FlemingDec 15, 20255.0I woke up to a mostly dead battery this morning, the coldest day since 2022! After work I drove to Advance Auto to switch out my battery. I drive a newer Toyota, so of course it’s more complicated than just a quick change of the battery. D was the person who ended up helping me and I cannot say enough good things about him! We thought I was going to have to reach out to my dealership to get a security code (they never called me back). D was able to get my battery switched out without my car completely resetting and needing the security code after all. He truly saved the day and was so kind and attentive in the process.

That is precisely what stands out about this Advance Auto Parts store. During my visit, I was pleased with the full stock availability in the store and the folks assisting me not only knew their stuff, they were very personable, polite, and very engaging in a humorous way. Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
