The store manager, Erika, was on me from the second I walked in, watching me, hovering around me, and asking me every couple minutes if I needed help even after I clearly told her multiple times I was just looking around. It didn’t feel like customer service, it felt like I was being watched for no reason, and then she got another employee to start doing the same thing, following me around, questioning me, and staring me down like I was there to steal something. I’m a Black man, so yeah, it honestly felt racially motivated because I’ve been to plenty of AutoZones and never been treated like this in my life. Her attitude the whole time was nasty, irritated, and unprofessional like she had a problem with me just browsing and taking my time. I walked in to shop, not to feel uncomfortable, judged, or pushed out of a store. This was unacceptable, embarrassing, and honestly upsetting. I don’t know if this is how they train managers to treat customers but if it is, it needs to change, because nobody deserves to feel like this just for walking into a store. Especially in 2025. I definitely won’t be going back. She was Hispanic herself and she was so nasty with me.
