I took my vehicle to Advance Auto on 6/26/25 and the employee said the battery was good and the alternator was bad and that I need to take my vehicle to the dealership. When I took it up to the dealership they said the battery had a bad cell and the alternator was good. Since they had to test the alternator I was charged a $186.00. I go back to Advance Auto and tell them the dealership said the alternator is good. They still insisted it’s a good battery and say we can go ahead and change the battery. They changed the battery and I no longer have issues with my check engine light and the car is running smoothly. If they would’ve changed the battery in the first place instead of misinforming me, I would still have $186.00. Never coming back to Advanced Auto again.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
