Brought my car in today with a mystery leak, they had it diagnosed with pictures to show within an hour. I was offered an Uber home without even asking and was able to pay online and pick up after hours. Easy. We will be back (hopefully not too soon)!

We will never take our vehicles here ever again. Every time we have taken a car here for repairs we leave having spent over $1000 dollars and end up having to take the car back due to poor maintenance, which they will claim it is other issues. Most recently took our Maxima here, which I was not excited about due to the previous poor jobs. Only came back because they accept SNAP financing, and it was close to our kids birthday and Christmas. We were charged almost $2000 for a tension and gasket job. A day later the car sounds like a tractor. Now it’s another issue which they are asking for $2100 for an air compressor. There was no issues with my air compressor prior to me taking my car there. Do yourself the favor and take your car to a qualified mechanic that will not scam you. This place should be shut down for the jack legged business they are running. They should be reported to the BBB

I had a great experience at Carmedix in Durham. The entire shop is welcoming, professional, and clearly cares about what they do. From the moment you walk in, you feel taken care of.
Barry, the manager — he is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell he takes pride in both the business and the team, and it really shows in how smoothly everything runs.
I also want to recognize Ronnie, who has worked on my car before. Ronnie is thorough, honest, and takes the time to explain things clearly, which I really appreciate. It makes a huge difference to trust the person working on your vehicle.
Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and patient, which made the whole experience comfortable and positive. It’s clear this is a well-run shop with a great team atmosphere.
Highly recommend Carmedix to anyone looking for quality service and people who actually care.

Don't trust them for anything but basic maintenance.
This is the second time I've been to CarMedix and while I gave them a good review the first time, I had skepticism and reservations when doing so because I thought they replaced more parts than they needed to.
This second visit was on a Thursday morning. I took my 2018 Honda CR-V in that was firing every failure code under the sun after the car was started. At the end of the first afternoon, they called and let me know that they looked at it but didn't know what the cause of the issues were. They also informed me that the $150 diagnostic fee that usually applies towards the fix, would now be a $225 fee and it would NOT be applied to the fix. It would be a separate charge, and the diagnosis would continue the next day when their "Honda guy" would be in to look at it. I already had a bad feeling about this.
The update on Friday was that they were still looking at it, and at that point I asked them if I should just come get it and take it to the dealership. I felt that with the way I asked my question, I was giving them an opportunity to just be honest and tell me that they weren't the best people equipped to fix it. Rather than a direct answer to my question I got a deflection… something like "we guarantee our work for x months or years or whatever". At that point my gut told me that I should have taken it to the Honda dealership, but life is busy and the car was already at CarMedix, so I left it there for the weekend.
I got another call Monday morning, and they informed me that it needed 4 things. These included a set of four Fuel Injectors, two Radiator Shutter Assemblies, a BG Platinum Fuel / Air Induction Service Kit, and a battery.
At this point I asked if we could just replace the battery and see if the warning alerts go away (according to web searches, that is a common cause for this "Christmas tree" warning light problem). Also though, I didn't believe the battery had any issues. The car was cranking up just fine, and I had taken it to AutoZone prior to this to have them test it and their machine diagnosed it as being 100% good (along with the alternator).
CarMedix said they could replace it and with free installation it would be $335. I responded "WHAT, for a BATTERY??? There's no way!" The guy basically just answered with a "yep, that's what they cost for the year I've been here".
They then sent me the link to view / approve the recommended services. The total out the door cost for everything they recommended: $5,146. Jaw drop, mouth open wide!
That was the clincher. I picked the vehicle up, paid the $225 diagnostic fee and took it to the dealership.
Honda did the diagnosis for $145 (which was applied to the overall fix) and determined that all it needed was the fuel injector kit. The alert that fired for the Radiator Shuttle Assemblies was a false alarm that was related to the injector issue and that cleared up after the system is reset. The battery was totally fine. It also didn't need the Fuel / Air Induction Service Kit. The dealership also recommended some minor maintenance on the brakes, which I had them do.
I got out of the dealership with a bill of $2,300 and since $300 of that was for the brake work, that is over $3,100 LESS than what CarMedix would have charged.
I don't know if CarMedix was trying to totally rip me off or not. But I do feel that rather than recommend what was best for the customer (for them to be honest and tell me they weren't the best equipped to fix this), they just guessed and recommended replacing everything that they thought might be a problem. That's irresponsible.
While I would imagine that they do acceptable work on basic maintenance, this experience has made me decide that I won't even go back there for the basics, with any of my vehicles.
