Reserved a standard pickup for airport pickup with a need to keep to a strrict schedua, not the Emerald Asile I normally use as I needed to move a long object.
Only one truck on the rental deck when I arrived. Clean on the outside moderately filthy inside including on door panels and floor mats. Food crumbs all over including seats, between seats and allover and inside center console.
Fule not close to full, maybe 7/10 hard to tell on Silverado. Manager said to bring back empty for lack of readiness. Brought back half full so happyvif that's what I'm charged for at almost $4 gallon.
Service at the vehicle pickup location was adequate, satisfactory.
I easily found a vehicle that was clean, ready, and accommodated my needs. I do currently have an unresolved 'lost & found' issue. After realizing I had left an item in the vehicle, I called and filed a report that same morning, while still at the airport. I provided specific details of the item left behind as well as exactly where it was located inside the vehicle.
I am waiting for the follow up regarding this missing item.

I am leaving 1 star because of a reason not related to my rental, but in regard to the company HR department. You see, I was involved in a minor incident, as someone side swiped me, and I was unable to get his information as we were in heavy traffic and my lane was stopped. I had to pay for the damage prior to renting again, as I did.
A big part of the reason I rent with Enterprise and National is because of the relationships I established early on. In a custody battle I have to travel across the country to see my son. So I am at Charlotte quite often. This past trip when I came into the garage as I bypass the counter, I was greeted by some familiar faces but asked for Connor Evans. As he’s been a really solid reason why I don’t look at price shopping as he’s usually there when I come in. He knows the mental struggle I’ve been in and has supported me and lifted me up every time I see him. He got into an accident in one of the cars that caused $1200 in damage. And instead of letting him pay for it, they fired him. I’m pretty sure this review will cost you more than $1200 as relationships is apparently not what you strive for like some of us. There are a lot of people that work for this company that are upset about their decision, but are afraid to speak up.
In the return side, there are a few really good people, but one great one. And that is David McCreary. He knows when he sees me I am usually coming back from my visit, and I am down. He’s become family. I truly wish you could understand what that is like for us customers. Because we are more than $ to you. And hopefully more people see this review.

National Car rental at BDL (Hartford/Springfield) easily notched a 5/5 star rating. Great new vehicle, BMW x series, and really nice conscientious employees keen to make sure you have a good experience. The pickup was seamless after a 45 min plane delay which put us close to the closing time at National. Plenty of staff on hand to insure a quick and easy departure. On return Aaron, specifically stands out for his courteousness and efficiency. At my departure gate, about an hour later, I realised I had forgotten my jacket in the car. By the time I landed in Charlotte, Aaron at National (BDL) called and notified me that he had retrieved my jacket from the car and forwarded it to lost property who was already initiating a shipment to return my jacket. National went the extra mile for me and their extraordinary customer service was not lost on me. Thank you Aaron at National (BDL) and thank you to the rest of your team. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’ve had consistently great experiences with National, and this location is no exception. Stefan provided fantastic customer service today, and honestly, that level of service reflects every interaction I’ve had here over time, whether at the desk, dealing with an issue, or returning a vehicle. If you have the good fortune of working with Jacoby, you are absolutely in great hands. The same goes for Stefan.
Because there is an Enterprise location closer to my home, I have not been using National at the airport as often lately. That said, I needed help in a pinch during a road trip, and these guys came through for me. Aside from a minor hiccup at the Knoxville airport location, where I learned their Emerald Aisle process is more like the setup in Maine and requires assistance at the counter rather than simply walking out to a car, everything worked out.
What could have turned into a very stressful situation ended up being manageable because of the support I received. I was about 200 miles into a trip and suddenly needed to secure a rental that I ultimately had to take all the way home. Thanks to National, my road trip was saved and I was still able to make it to a baby shower for a longtime friend more than 500 miles away.
The customer service was excellent, the assistance was exceptional, and the overall experience reminded me why I have always thought so highly of this team.
