  I rented a one-way rental from Charlotte to Raleigh NC (~150 miles away) and didn’t see the fine print that my rental included 0 complimentary miles. So the rental cost for 1 day was $200+, more than double what I expected to pay because of the surcharges. I’ve done dozens of one way rentals with Avis and Hertz and never encountered a “0 complimentary miles” situation. Who would ever rent a car and not drive it at all?!? I hope National can reconsider its polices to get in line with their competitors on this. Until then, I will book future one-way rentals elsewhere.

  The team at National Car Rental - Charlotte Airport are amazing! I rent from them fairly often, because they’ve consistently gone over and beyond to take care of any concerns and make sure that I have an easy, smooth rental experience each time. Devan is the best manager there, as well as Marvin and Cooper are great. I can’t recommend them enough!

  1/08/26 UPDATE: Someone from National responded to my review asking me to contact them so they could look into this further. They pasted the general "contact us" link in thier response, however when I went back to see the details and actually contact them, the response had been removed? I've called the general number and cant get through to anyone. There's no number for the local rental car location and I've sat on hold with the general lost and found line for hours. Its like the lost and found system is designed to not allow you to follow up and retreive your lost items... I forgot my sunglasses in my rental car on 12/18. Immediately reported it later the same day that I left them. It's been over 2 weeks since then and the only response I get though National’s lost and found portal is that they haven't been found yet. I know for sure they were left in the car. I tried to be patient since it was the holidays. However, at this point I can only think that SOMEONE at National Car Rental at CLT STOLE MY SUNGLASSES. I’m usually really good about not leaving stuff in rental cars, but it was super early and I made a mistake. Be extra cautious with your belongings when renting a car from National at CLT.

  National Car Rental in Charlotte is usually quick and efficient. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because I've noticed the selection of vehicles for the CLT Emerald Club Executive area have progressively gone downhill every visit to CLT that I make (about 4-8 or more per year). In the Executive area, I used to see plenty of Explorers, Grand Cherokees, Audi Q3 or Q5, Cadillacs, etc, now the nicest models appear to be small sedans, and economy small SUVs--Nissan Rogues, Mazdas, Jeep Compass, etc. Also, the signage at the airport could be a little better. It is confusing how you need to go up to the 5th floor from the terminal then back down to 2 for the national when the other agencies are on different floors. There's also only 2 elevators to get over to the rental cars for the entire airport--so it gets really backed up when there's a lot of flights coming in.

  First, the woman who helped set up the rental was by far amazing! I had a dilemma with needing to use a debit card and was out of state. She was able to make it happen and for cheaper then my failed reservation attempts at another rental company. She even helped recommend a good place to eat on our travels! Thank you for that! The gentleman with the tangerines when we dropped off the car had an amazing sense of humor and was so much fun and welcoming to ensure we did the drop off correct, he was having fun at work and my family enjoyed his company and laughter! This is our very first time renting a car and traveling out of state and each interaction with the employees and process was one that left an amazing impact! The vehicle we choose we felt really fancy driving around, it had features on it I didn’t know was available on a vehicle…. We don’t get out much. Thank you all for an amazing experience and creating a positive impact that will stay with us when we travel again!
